Random Acts of Kindness

Let's keep Taylor's smile alive by spreading joy to as many people as possible. Mark & I found great joy in delivering stuffed animals from Taylor's service to Ryan House and Crisis Nursery.

It made us feel good to pass on our sweet angel Taylor's smile to these children who need it so much that we ordered some Kindness Project cards from the MISS Foundation. The cards are meant to be left behind when doing random acts of kindness for people. This way we can all keep Taylor's smile alive.

We've purchased cards that we can give you next time we see you, but if you are anxious to get started you can visit MissFoundation.org/kindness/index.html to purchase your own Random Acts of Kindness cards.

Please post your act of kindness when you do it as it really does come full circle and brings light to Mark & I's hearts!
xoxo

I have been donating my time to a friend who has concerns about her little girl's development in sweet memory of Taylor. While working with her I did some of my fishy faces (that Taylor loved so much)... Her laughter and smiles continue on.

After waiting for a parking spot at starbucks, my friend Cameron gave hers up to someone else this morning. She said it felt great to do something in Taylor's name.

We met a young couple on their honeymoon last night. They are in the US from Ireland and we purchased them a round of drinks as congratulations!

We had four great tickets to Padre's game today that we gave to a young couple in Coronado. He seemed much more excited to attend the game than shopping.

Today I took the initiative to help brainstorm some ideas to benefit a pediatric cancer charity in hopes to grow donations. I also helped push a guy's Toyota truck in the gas station parking lot so he could pop the clutch to start it (pushing in a shirt and tie isn't fun in 100 degree weather). Helping others feels good though.

Love helping others and love you guys!

Taylor has made me a better mother; today when my daughter wanted to make breakfast, my initial reaction was 'how about another day?' I immediately started thinking about the mess, the time it takes and the other things that I needed to get done today. I look at my blue bracelet, think about how there might not be another day with her, I embraced the moment, allowed the kitchen to get messy and loved every moment of breakfast this morning! Thank you to Taylor for helping me live and love in the moment! Love, Rosa

When getting gas at QT today I saw a couple with two cars putting just a few dollars in the gas tank. I went in and got a gas card and gave it to them on my way out of the parking lot along with my random act of kindness card. It felt so good to leave it behind for them that I drove away with tears in my eyes.

Last Saturday, the Autism Tree Project Foundation (ATPF-San Diego) and the Del Mar chapter of National Charity League (NCL) held a Mother Daughter Tea to honor moms of daughters diagnosed with autism (and their daughters). Even though the event was for autism, Dayna Hoff, the director of ATPF planned a special craft for the girls to do in honor of Taylor that will be sent home to Katie and Mark.
At that event, Dayna gave me a prayer quilt that was made for me by a church here in Point Loma. She had not told them what design to do. The quilt is bright beautiful colors with butterflies all over. Dayna had heard what a special symbol butterflies have been to Katie and Mark and knew it was special just for Taylor when she saw it. She had not mentioned butterflies to anyone and couldn't believe when three of the girls showed up for the event with butterflies on their outfits. I explained that butterflies have been a symbol of hope and have been everywhere. There wasn't a dry eye in the house and just then one of the mothers looked down at her necklace and said "I have tons of charms. I just happened to put my butterfly one on today for no reason... obviously it was for you". She took it off and gave it to me.

Taylor, you have taught me about love. The love I experience for my family is beyond anything I experienced before April 18th, 2010. And if love is what defines life, then for me, life is no longer an endless trail of guaranteed time; it is a sacred path with many unknowns. You helped me clearly define who and what are important in my life. I stopped questioning and holding back love and learned how to give out love and to let love come in.

It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause change half way around the world. Taylor you have been the butterfly in our lives and we want to share your life and the love you brought back to us with our family and friends. We will be placing a Random Acts of Kindness Card in each engagement announcement. Taylor Paige Cosmas, you are so very important to us and we want to extend your life and love and share it with others! It is a legacy that transcends death. It is a legacy of love.

I went down to the beach for a run [in LA] today and as I was filling my meter a dad and 4 kids parked in front of me and started filling their meter. I heard the dad say "Sorry kids we can only stay for 45 minutes, maybe an hour. We can just our picnic right here [next to the car]". The little boy asked why and the dad explained "we don't have any more money". I gave them all the change I still had in my hand... the dad looked at me in shock and asked "really?" and the kids started jumping up and down cheering and saying "1thank you!"
I had the best run I have had in a long time after that. It felt so good... I have to admit I stole the quarters from Matt's jar so it was his random act of kindness and he felt really good when I told him too.
Your memory made my day so much better and it seems the random act of kindness made my day so much better.
